International Scientific Conference BALTTRIB

FOREWORD

We are pleased to present the Proceedings of the 9th International Scientific Conference "BALTTRIB 2017". The Conference took place in Akademija, Kaunas district, Lithuania at the Aleksandras Stulginskis University, 16-17 November 2017.

International conferences BALTTRIB 2017 are organised by the scientists of Institute of Power and Transport Machinery Engineering of Aleksandras Stulginskis University (ASU) together with other tribologists of Lithuania and other Baltic region researchers.

Conferences BALTTRIB took place in 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.

The conferences are organised by ASU, Lithuanian Scientific Society Department „Tribologija“ and International Tribology Council. About 70-100 scientists from 15-25 countries are regularly participating at the conferences. Newest results of tribological research are discussed and presented in oral and poster presentations during the conferences. The companies are presenting their technological equipment for tribological research. The proceedings of the conference are registered in international databases of research papers. The last conference BALTTRIB 2017 was the most effective bi-annual platform for the interdisciplinary scientific discussions and the presentations of new ideas for tribology in the context of knowledge, innovations and technological progress.
The topics of the Conference cover main fields of tribological research:
  • Friction and wear of friction pairs in agricultural, transport and industrial machinery;
  • Lubrication;
  • Micro- and nano-scale tribology;
  • Tribochemistry;
  • Bio-tribology;
  • Environmental issues in tribology;
  • Surface science and coating engineering;
  • Tribology in metal processing;
  • Simulation of tribological processes;
  • Experimental methods in tribology.

The oral reports and the BALTTRIB 2017 papers were divided in 6 sections:
Surface processing and surface science I;

Surface processing and surface science II;

Tribological materials;
Lubricants and lubrication;
Friction and wear in tribosystems I;

Friction and wear in tribosystems II.

The BALTTRIB 2017 proceedings include 34 peer-reviewed papers.

Green Tribology

This international journal is dedicated to all aspects of tribology which have benefits on environment during production, usage and/or disposal in industry, agriculture and other economic activities. Particularly it is focusing on publishing high-quality papers that address the lubricants and lubrication, friction pair materials and coatings as well as friction, and wear processes which are important reducing the energy consumption and negative impact on environment.

The main topics include:
environmentally friendly lubricants and their additives;
• nano-additives for wear and friction reduction;
• environmentally compatible engineering materials and coatings;
• surface processing technologies and surface interaction process analysis with regard to friction and wear reduction;
• design of tribotechnical systems which decrease energy consumption in machinery joints.
