Focus and Scope

This international journal is dedicated to all aspects of tribology which have benefits on environment during production, usage and/or disposal in industry, agriculture and other economic activities. Particularly it is focusing on publishing high-quality papers that address the lubricants and lubrication, friction pair materials and coatings as well as friction, and wear processes which are important reducing the energy consumption and negative impact on environment.

The main topics include:

environmentally friendly lubricants and their additives;

• nano-additives for wear and friction reduction;

• environmentally compatible engineering materials and coatings;

• surface processing technologies and surface interaction process analysis with regard to friction and wear reduction;

• design of tribotechnical systems which decrease energy consumption in machinery joints.

Attentive per reviewing of all papers, in accordance with standard procedures for international scientific journals, and with a specific focus on the novelty and significance of the presented research, ensures that journal publishes high quality specialised and multidisciplinary papers. Green Tribology publishes both original research papers and review articles.

Peer Review Process

In order to promote novel and high quality research, maintain the standards of the journal, and to offer authors constructive feedback on their submissions all manuscripts submitted to Green Tribology are subject to peer review by the members of the Editorial Board or by the appointed experts. At the onset all the manuscripts undergo preliminary evaluation at the editorial level and those judged to be of significant importance will be subsequently peer reviewed.

Green Tribology has a "double blind" review process: Authors are not told who reviewed their paper, and referees do not know the name of the authors whose papers they review. The peer referees’ identity remains unknown to the authors.

The reviewers provide individual critiques within four weeks. The reviewers must pay particular attention on a few main points:

  • The scientific novelty and significance, by evaluating the importance of the findings;
  • Determine the originality of the work based on how much it advances the field;
  • Identify scientific errors and evaluate the design and methodology used;
  • Evaluate the conclusions;
  • Identify missing or inaccurate references.

The reviewer must recommend the manuscript to be published, revised or rejected. Typically each submission requires two positive reviews to be accepted as Green Tribology manuscript.

If the manuscript is judged to be revised it is returned to the authors and must be revised within two months. If revision takes longer the manuscripts can be considered as new submissions.

After revision the manuscripts are judged by Editors and final decision will be made. If consideration is “rejecting” the authors are not allowed to resubmit this manuscript.
